Actually like shooting fish in a barrel to make!!! I go why dried beefiness is so expensive at present...this was not a cheap build only the best jerky I've e'er had. Ane pound of London bake (cut while still partially frozen to make it easier to make thin slices) fabricated half-dozen ounces of jerky but wow, it'south dandy! And then easy to brand!

Oh goodness. This was soo good. Didn't change annihilation the commencement time, except I had a 3lb eye of circular. This was more than enough marinade for 3lbs of meat. The 2d time, I added ii homegrown jalapeños, which added a nice, but non overpowering, kicking. Instead of doing this on a cookie canvass and wire rack, which is awful to clean, you can hang the pieces with toothpicks or bamboo skewers from the summit oven rack. Be sure to line the bottom oven rack with aluminum foil to catch drips. Make sure none of the meat is touching other pieces or folded on itself, information technology wont dry with the rest. And wedging the oven door open with a wooden spoon helps with drying time.

I made this but with no seasoning considering I made information technology for my dogs! It came out great. My dogs love it and I know information technology won't damage them. I at present make a batch every 3 weeks for them. Happy dogs and happy mom!!!!

This was my first time making hasty. It was then like shooting fish in a barrel! I had my butcher cutting the meat and I used 3 lbs of London Bake - then I increased the marinade recipe past 50%. I used low-sodium soy (instead of reg soy) and night brown sugar (instead of beloved), added 1/2 Tbls of ground cumin, 1/2 Tbls footing Cardamom, one/2 tspn ground clove and 1/2 tspn Cayenne powder. My family really enjoyed this jerky! I volition NEVER buy commercial hasty once again! The taste of homemade jerky is so much amend (and without all the unhealthy additives that often goes into commercial jerky)! I volition be making this many times, equally we savor jerky a lot! ~ OH, I cutting up some into tiny pieces for doggie treats .. my 2 dogs love 'em, too! (there'due south nothing harmful to dogs in them, so why not share with them?).

Recipe is excellent and very easy. I fabricated two batches, the first I baked per the recipe at 175 degrees for 3 1/2 hours. For the 2nd batch I baked it using the convection function on the oven and it was fix subsequently about 2 hours, cut i to 1 1/2 hours off the cooking time. They were equally delicious and could not tell the difference betwixt the batches. The jerky was actually better two days later!

I made this with a frozen venison roast. I soaked the venison in salted water for three days in the refrigerator to depict out whatever blood changing the table salt water every day until information technology came out almost perfectly articulate. No recipe is going to make everyone happy, but this was close. I thought it had too much of something, perhaps worstershire sauce. We used Tamari sauce, which is a low sodium soy and will cut down on the salty flavor. Side by side time I may take the butcher slice it, but yous tin do it at domicile with a sharp pocketknife. The whole process was much easier than I thought it would be and we volition be making this again.

Worcestershire sauce was a trivial strong but a great tasting jerky. Placed in freezer ii hours before slicing by hand, against the grain . turned out to be the most tender hasty i've eaten. I'm 64 and take ate a lot of hasty in my fourth dimension. past the way subbed 2 tablespoons of cane sugar for the honey.

Amazing! My husband has been wanting home made beef hasty for several months. Nosotros saw the video on how to brand this one evening while watching youtube, and when I saw how easy information technology was, I just had to try. The season is awesome! It took a while for the meat to dry out in my oven (closer to 8 hours, meat was cut in long strips i/2" by 3/four", which probably accounts for the long drying time). I've fabricated this a few times at present. Key to your success... There's an excellent tip to partially freeze the beef prior to cutting, I left mine in freezer for almost 2 hours, which immune for very thin slices. Sparse sliced beef cannot be overstated as allows better saturation of seasoning, and ultimately leads to ameliorate flavor. Cut beef with the grain yields chewier texture more like "shop bought" vs across the grain, which is good for the denture wearing folks!

This was a nifty base of operations recipe for us only we made a few tweaks which is why I gave information technology iv stars instead of 5. We reduced the Worcestershire to 1/2 C. and added two Tbsp. more than of brown sugar and also added Texas Pete to preference (maybe 2-3 Tbsp). We also used a dehydrator at 160 for about x hours after marinating over night. It turned out beautifully! Nosotros eat a lot of jerky so this may become a regular!

My husband and I fabricated this last night. Yum!! We did use Bragg's Liquid Aminos instead of soy sauce and used raw dear. We also added cayenne pepper for more than heat. We did ours in our dehydrator instead of the oven. This is a great recipe. We are into health and fitness and we love beef jerky but the kind you lot buy in the store has so many preservatives and junk added to it. This was the perfect recipe for us to employ to accept a healthy snack with lots of protein. Thanks for submitting the recipe. We volition probably be making this every week.

I made this jerky in the past and then lost the recipe. I loved it when I fabricated it previously and have been a little disappointed in other recipes I've tried since even though they were all skilful, merely not what I was looking for. This is by far the all-time jerky recipe I've establish. The merely thing I change in my training is that I cut the meat uniformly in one/4" strips and later on marinating, I dry them in my smoker which is gear up at 175 degrees. I also add some cherry wood or mesquite smoke during the beginning hour of drying. The end product keeps very well on the shelf. I have a hiking partner that had some in their hiking gear that was almost a year onetime and they were still eating it and raving about the good season, (although I wouldn't advise keeping that long). My trouble is information technology gets eaten upward in our house faster than I can brand it.

Love this recipe! I've made information technology a couple times now. Beginning time I fabricated one-half of it in the oven one-half of it in my food dehydrator. I do like the oven a little bit improve. But I found that doing the dehydrator is just a little easier to clean up by lining the bottom of my dehydrator with foil and since the racks are plastic I can but throw them in the sink and petty h2o for easy cleanup. Other than that, recipe wise, I don't modify a thing! I put some in the fridge for snacking for a couple weeks. And I also put some in food saver bags in the freezer, for later on use.

This jerky was only ok. I fabricated the recipe with no modifications. worcestershire is overpowering. If I were to make over again I would drastically reduce the amount of Worcestershire sauce, unless you actually love the stuff. It'south gonna be a bit hard to eat all this hasty when it tastes like Worcestershire.

I've tried a few of the recipes on this site and this is my favorite. I do replace the dear with a 1/8 cup of brown sugar (not packed). Every bit far equally marinade times I usually do a full eighteen to 24 hrs, I've read that it doesn't make a difference if you marinade for 3 hrs or 23 hrs but that hasn't been my feel. A total solar day is all-time. Too, I know this can exist tough only if you lot can wait another 24 to 48 hrs earlier eating your jerky the flavor is significantly better. I accept no idea why. I normally separate the recipe and eat half right away and shop the other half for a minimum of 2 days. One terminal thing, I observe the 170 temp to be a bit high simply since mod ovens can't get beneath 170 I leave the door open nearly a half inch. It allows the heat period out and so oven remains on most of the time instead of the oven turning off and on continuously. This manner there is a continuous menstruation of oestrus passing the meat.

I've tried this recipe two times at present and absolutely love the jerky; family, friends and co-workers all feel the same. I did make a few minor tweaks though. Commencement, I'm not a big fan of honey then the 2d fourth dimension around I substituted brown carbohydrate and on both batches I used ghost pepper flakes instead of red pepper (I prefer jerky to take a bit of "heat"). Lastly I used a dehydrator instead of the oven to dry it; having ten drying racks comes in particularly handy when making three to 4 pound batches. Over again I can't say enough bully things about this recipe, extremely easy to make with outstanding results.

Looking for a snack/meal that stays well on multi day hiking trips I always found beef jerky to be the all-time. Simply the prices here in the local stores are rediculous with $120/kg and then I finally made one my own. Had to alter the onion pulverization with a grinded onion and fabricated a little less marinade for a little more come across due to the packing volumes sold here, and later 4 hours at 60C in the oven I entered heaven. I am not a beef jerky eater; I merely practise not like it! But after I made this recipe, I LOVE IT! And my family unit (who are all big jerky fans) absolutely loves information technology! I can't believe I waited this long to make beefiness jerky, this recipe is exactly what I was looking for!!! The but changes I made were: I used a dehydrator for a few hours, I didn't have any onion powder or chili flakes which was fine because the pepper made it the perfect spiced flavor. Cracking recipe! I fabricated this last weekend and have non been able to stop eating this jerky. Information technology has a squeamish bite to it with a little bit of heat on the back end (I added Chef John's 'signature' pinch of cayenne to the marinade). Perfection! This was my showtime time making jerky, I have now made several batches. I substituted Monks fruit for the honey to brand it more keto friendly. Everybody absolutely loves it. I also add some liquid fume 1 tablespoon. I use top circular roast and slice it on the meat slicer, very quick and even slices, and tender. three ane\two hrs at 160 perfect!

I made this recipe a few days ago, tasted pretty darn practiced. so I decided last night to endeavor it once more, I added a couple extra things as follows brown sugar Cajun seasoning, I omitted the soy sauce primarily because the is plenty salt in the Brine i soak in over night and added Sesame Ginger Teriyaki Marinade. I only gave information technology a 4 because I ran out of beer waiting for information technology to get done.

We tried this a few weeks ago with Pork instead of Beef. We let information technology marinate for 2 days. It was succulent, then today we are making it over again with Pork, and adding grated onion instead of powdered, 1 T tumeric, 1 clove garlic likewise the powdered, one inch piece of grated ginger & 1 T Molasses. We also only had ane/two cup of worcheshire, and then we added i/iv loving cup Aminos to it to fifty-fifty the liquid out. And we used regular paprika, instead of smoked, cuz we didn't accept the smoked. I'll have to let you know how it comes out 'cuz we are going to let this marinate for ii days then cook it upwardly....more to come....

Like it a little sweeter so I added about 2 tablespoons of brownish sugar, more than dear and some ginger powder and fresh ground ginger. Also added about 6oz of Dr Pepper. This was a great base of operations to start with though.

What an odd way this recipe found me. I ever love Chef John's recipes, then they catch my heart showtime. Long story brusk, I bought this big piece of top round beefiness on a BIG sale. I logged on here to notice a way to set up the darned thing that wouldn't be tough as nails. This recipe was immediately at the top of my page when I logged in. Since my husband is on a depression carb diet, and constantly complains he "just wants to chew something with big flavor", I thought this woudl exist perfect. It'due south VERY practiced, and foolproof. I only had about 3Tblsp Woosh left in my bottle, and and then used same amount soy sauce to command the salt, and it was fine. Marinated beef in a ziplock bag overnight, tuckered and squeezed meat dry in bag, and so spread out on newspaper towels and actually dried it. Baked for iv hours at 175 and *presto*--husband said it was excellent. That will keep him chewing for awhile with incredibly low carbs/lots of poly peptide. Thanks, Chef John !

This recipe is fantastic!! We used our dehydrator to make the hasty. The biggest change we made was using a mallet to pound the meat. We believe that pounding. the meat cut down on the marinade time. We marinaded for approximately 3 hours. We also added a couple teaspoons of liquid smoke. Thank you Chef John.

We bought a dehydrator. We dear hasty but it'southward then expensive! This came out amazing! I only had regular paprika so I added 1 teas liquid smoke. I also marinated overnight. We bought circular pre-sliced, about ane/4". Too thick for united states of america. I want information technology thinner similar Chef John'southward. I made this today for Christmas gifts for my co-workers. The taste is fantastic. The only thing I changed was the corporeality of pepper flakes, I backed off some. I made 1 misstep, I recollect I may have baked it also long. It didn't come out as pretty as Chef John'due south, just I recall my co-workers will beloved it. The downsize was trying to find a butcher to make the fine cuts. Ralph's and Vons no longer slice meat thinly. Bully recipe my simply modify was that I used my dehydrator! Still came out great!! Love this recipe and the family agrees! Nosotros make a big batch fairly regularly, only I as well put back a lot with my Food Saver Vacuum machine! Information technology stays fresh literally for upwards to 5 years! I bet longer, simply that is as long equally we have kept it!

Wow! I took this out of dehydrator this morning and it is already downwardly to just crumbs in the handbag. I used stew meat that I sliced very thin. Next time I will slice a flank steak or eye of round. Looks like I will exist making this frequently. Bang-up idea to use for Christmas gifts. Thanks for some other great recipe Chef John!!

I added 1 tbs cayenne to the marinade recipe upping the heat level. Also, I created the jerky on my Treager using the smoke setting. It may be the best jerky I've had..I shared with friends and family and all loved it-I had no complaints of existence to hot however I will cutting cayenne back to 1/2 tbs side by side batch. Highly recommend.

Made this many times. Just matter I add is two TBSP liquid fume. Using a Breville oven on Dehydrate; 150 degrees for four 1/2 hours. I sparse slice the meat nonetheless partially frozen and so marinate overnight. Make sure you use the smoked paprika. I purchase this past the pound and employ it every bit a central ingredient in a spice alloy for steak and craven.

I've made this recipe with small changes hither and at that place quite a few times now. It comes out very tasty and is very piece of cake to do. The best results I've had and then far is marinating information technology overnight in a circular bowl and then everything is covered (shallower dishes sometimes left some pieces barely touching the marinade) and so dehydrating for 6h or and so. I besides added in fresh garlic to the marinade instead of the pulverisation simply because I don't accept it around but it gave it worked nicely.

Made this twice, first time I skipped the setting the meat on the paper towels. It had an farthermost Worcestershire sauce gustation. The second time I rested on newspaper towels before drying, and information technology turned out much amend. This is a great recipe.

Just had my new Kogan Electrical Food Dehydrator 5 tray Delivered today, Purchased 2Kg Rump Butcher cut at around 15mm smashed it with meat mallet used this base marinade plus I added 2 cloves of garlic & 2 long reddish chillis finely chopped How good is this base recipe I keep adding Dry Chilli & harissa Paste every two hrs to marinade I'm on my 3rd tray two Trays to go, I volition never buy a pack of retail Hasty again, I'yard letting sit overnight & will Dehydrate leftovers tomorrow, Then Good is this recipe

And so when I found this like shooting fish in a barrel-sounding recipe, I decided to requite it a try. I'g and so glad I did! It is easy and tastes yummy. I used summit round, cutting it into sparse slices and marinated overnight. I added a scrap more than honey to give it a spicy/sweet taste and cooked 2 ways-1 batch in the oven and i in the air fryer. Hubby liked air fried and I liked oven cooked best. It was like shooting fish in a barrel and delicious. I will be making this again!

This is my favorite recipe so far. Merely change was 1/2 cup each of soya and worcestershire cuz i had slightly less meat. Oh and used cayenne instead of chili flakes. I usually requite about of my jerky away, only hoarded this to myself. Thank you for the keeper.

Very simple and very tasty. The only thing I would change is that I would add a sprinkle of kosher salt after you identify it on the trays in the dehydrator or oven.
